What is a SMS Prefix in India?

SMS prefix consists of the first two letters of a sender ID. It shows which telecom operator and region the message comes from. For example: AX-SBICRD or AX-123456
A: Represents Bharti Airtel (telecom operator).
X: Represents Karnataka (telecom circle).

The prefix helps users identify the source of the message and ensures compliance with Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) guidelines.

Other Example : JK - The first character of the prefix indicates the telecom operator. In this case, "J" refers to Reliance Jio. The second character of the prefix signifies the region or telecom circle. "K" denotes the Kolkata region
